Camera, gear and troubleshooting
Matching settings to the lead, packing the bag, and fixes for common problems.
Camera settings
The Camera tab holds the settings the day is being shot on — codec, frame rate, colour, recording mode and picture profile. When you’re second shooting, this is where you record what the lead is running so your footage cuts together with theirs.
White balance log
Rather than one setting, BasePlate keeps a log of conditions: Sunny 5300K, Cloudy 6000K, Indoor 3200K, plus any custom condition you add. Tap Add another condition when the venue throws something new at you.
The bag
Gear is split in two:
- Provided — what the lead is bringing. Don’t pack it twice.
- My Bag — yours, with a tick as each item goes in.
The bag persists between weddings, so the packing list is built once and reused.
Themes
Four of them, in Settings: Golden Hour, Blown Highlights, Reception Lighting and Underexposed. They are four separate designs rather than a light and dark toggle — pick the one you can actually read in the room you’re standing in. There’s also Big Text for reading at arm’s length in sun, and Keep Awake so the screen doesn’t sleep mid-ceremony.
Quiet Mode turns off the app’s commentary. Some days you don’t want the jokes.
Troubleshooting
The timeline isn’t scrolling to now. Tap the target button at the top-left. If the day shown isn’t today’s, switch weddings on the Projects tab.
Alerts aren’t arriving. Check notification permission (Settings → BasePlate → Notifications) and whether a Focus mode is filtering them. Confirm alerts are switched on in the app’s own Settings.
Golden hour looks wrong. It’s computed from the venue coordinates on the project. If those are missing or approximate, so is the answer.
The watch is showing an old schedule. The phone pushes to the watch on launch and after every edit. Open the phone app once with the watch nearby.
Everything is gone after deleting the app. BasePlate stores everything locally and only locally. Deleting the app deletes it, and it cannot be recovered — see the privacy policy.
