SAR21 started because its author kept watching the same twenty minutes get wasted. A call comes in, and before anyone moves there’s a phone tree, a group text nobody reads, and a spreadsheet that’s a month stale.

The product collapses that into one loop: dispatch a callout from the web portal, and every member’s phone lights up — through Do Not Disturb, because iOS Critical Alerts and Android emergency channels are built for exactly this. Responses and ETAs come back live. The CalTopo map is already made.

Around that core sits the rest of what a team actually runs on: the roster, certifications, trainings and attendance, equipment, an ICS command center, an agency portal for the overseeing law enforcement agency, and analytics that turn a season of callouts into a PDF the board will read.

It is built and maintained by an active SAR volunteer — ground pounder, licensed UAV pilot, trained in search management — which is why the vocabulary matches what teams already say out loud.
