Getting started
Add your first wedding, set your role, and get the timeline running.
Adding a wedding
On the Projects tab, tap New wedding. The fastest route in is Paste a call sheet and go — paste the schedule you were sent as plain text and BasePlate parses the times and beats out of it. You can also build a day by hand.
Set the couple, the date, the venue and its coordinates. The coordinates matter: they’re what sunset and golden hour are computed from, entirely offline.
Choosing your role
The first time you open the app it asks which one are you?
- 1st Shooter — lead. The whole day is yours.
- 2nd Shooter — Super 8, monopod, and the jobs nobody else is covering.
- Everyone — following along; nothing gets highlighted.
Your role decides which beats get pulled to the front as hero cards with a YOU badge. Everything else stays on the timeline as context.
You can override the role per wedding — useful when you’re second shooting one weekend and leading the next. Change it in Settings, or on the project.
Coverage and call times
A day has an overall coverage window for the crew, and your call time inside it. Beats outside your call time dim, so a 7am hair-and-makeup start doesn’t shout at you when you’re not called until 2pm.
